About a year and a half ago, comedian Brian McCarthy was afflicted by a genetic mutation that caused him to quickly lose the majority of his central vision. The process of losing his independence almost rendered him insane, but he refused to stop doing what he does best. He decided to create DisLabeled, a television program that celebrates people who are disabled by birth, illness or accident. With each episode, Brian takes us on a journey, experiencing their stories, their take on humanity, while also pushing the envelope of how we speak about “disability.” With each episode, Brian learns something new about he can he can live a more a more independent and fulfilling life.
